The Arany Hordó (Golden Barrel) Restaurant is located in the heart of the world heritage site Castle area. The building which used to be the residence of the king’s head sommelier, recalls the spirit of old times. The restaurant is expecting you on three levels amongst these ancient walls.

The quarry stone wine cellar was developed from a branch of the famous Buda Labirinth which runs underneath the 500 year old building. Wine exhibitions, dinners and wine tasting are waiting for our wine lover guests here, so as for those who like the traditional Hungarian cusine. The delicious tastes are provided by our chef Gabor Kalocsai. Spend some time in our wine cellar and feel like you are in King Mathias’ court.

The first floor parlour walls are decorated with knighthood murals and breastplates which lend a peculiar spirit to the restaurant. This spirit creates a perfect location for family celebrations, company dinners and other various events.

From spring until autumn you are welcome to admire the swirl of Buda Castle and the towers of Mathias Church from the terrace of the Restaurant Arany Hordo.

According to the request of the guests it is also possible to spend an ancient dinner during which the dishes are served in traditional pottery. Our guests are awaited by past citing feasts all year around (min. 10 persons).

The air conditioned banquett-hall on the first floor can be a perfect location for company events, receptions and private meetings up to 50 person. Ensuring locations for trainings and seminars in an elegant environment up to 50 person with full service.

The 40 person wine cellar is appropriate for arranging wine dinners and wine tastings as well.

The a’la carte guests are entertained by live gipsy music every night.
