Mátyás Pince Restaurant - Budapest
The Mátyás Pince Restaurant (Matthias Cellar Restaurant) is famous for its traditional Hungarian flavours accompanied by the finest wines of the country and Gypsy music performed by the the Lakatos dynasty. Beautiful stained glass windows and frescoes recount scenes from the life of King Matthias. The air-conditioned function rooms of the Restaurant provide an excellent setting for special occassions, family and business luncheons, dineers or business meetings.
The building that houses Mátyás Pince and City Hotel Matyas Budapest was built by the Dreher Brewery, therefore, of course, a beer house was established on the ground floor. The beer house, named after King Matthias, opened its doors under the management of an experienced barkeeper, Mátyás Baldauf (Borostyánkői), in 1904.
The uniquely planned menu, translated into 6 languages, offers not only classic dishes, but also a range of recipes made from good old-fashioned Hungarian ingredients side by side with the imaginative delicacies of contemporary Hungarian cuisine.
A tradtitional gyps band with enchanting gypsy music is entertaining the guests every night. We also offer our guests a traditional folk dance performance on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting at 8:30 PM.
Join in the festivities! Come celebrate our anniversary with us, ring in the New Year with a traditional holiday dinner at Mátyás Pince, or enjoy some of the many other special events that we host.
